From: winston@merk.com (Winston Smith) Subject: [--- OASIS BBS ---] Date: 1995/05/25 Message-ID: #1/1 organization: Technology Partners, Inc. keywords: OASIS, Archives, Doc.s newsgroups: comp.sys.atari.8bit A Polish Atarian recently requested a copy of the OASIS demonstration BBS, "OASIS JUNIOR 3", from myself. He also suggested that it be placed in the Merit Archives. This leads me to the following two questions: 1.) Isn't the OASIS demo. BBS in the archives already ? 2.) Are there any OASIS Sysops out there in netland ? The reason that I ask is that the running demo. of OASIS JUNIOR 3 that I have has doc.s that focus on how to get the BBS up and running, but don't explain other things such as what the OASIS "PAL" is typically used for. Sometimes file exceptions are triggered such as "Missing MVP.SUP" (which doesn't seem to cause any problems). Also, there are questions that come to mind, such as: Can the HELP menu be resident while the HELP text files are not ? What is the name of the 'Z' file ? et cetera. As I realize that the Merit Archives are a world resource, would one just dump a "working copy" of a program to the Archives ? I assume that an actual OASIS BBS Sysop who has used OASIS IV in the past would know what all of the various pieces of code required are for the demo and what it is that they do. I am loath to just stuff a "working copy" into the archive without having actual experience running the code suite. Should it be done anyway ? Anyone have any opinions on this one way or another ?
